I’ve been doing some talking these days with other men. They are 22, 28, and 44. Although there’s a disparity in ages, their take on women is the same — if a woman they find attractive shows interest in having sex with them, they won’t turn her down.

Okay, so their excuse would be… “We are men, what do you want out of us?!” However, they are not just men. Two are married, and the third has been in a relationship for three years. They look at me and see themselves, as they used to be.

The 22 year old invited me to Tijuana today. He told me not to get the wrong idea, that we would not be there to get in bed with women. Apparently, Tijuana is known for being a destination of preference for those seeking a booty-call. He showed me this by approaching a man almost twice older than I am and asking him what he thought Tijuana was known for. The man said, “Well, Tijuana is a good place for one to ‘mojar la brocha’ ” — literally, soak the paintbrush; the paintbrush being the penis.

The older man added that Tijuana was a good place to do a girl for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Ah, he specified the age of the girl… one under 18. He says the authorities in Tijuana would not do anything about it, that one could get away with it. That he’s almost twice older than I am, and that he would suggest that Tijuana is a good place to do a girl who’s too young even for me, kinda grossed me out. Those thoughts have no place in the mind of a man who probably has daughters that age.

It’s not my pretension to be thought a good boyfriend. I’m not. For one, I sin, at least in thought. Last night, we were asked in my Chicano Studies 430 class to have a conversation with the person next to us. The girl next to me was one in her early 20s. Good looking. Being a pig, I asked myself, “What if…? Would I?” The answer would have been “no”, but the fact that the situation crossed my mind is incriminating enough.

This brings me to another issue set forth by the 22 year old. He said, “Come on, don’t tell me that if a girl stood in front of you, naked, you’d turn her down and run home.” I’m not so sure about the running part, but I’m positive that I’d turn her down. One day I may regret it, but I believe that at this point in time I must remain faithful to the girl I’m with. I believe her when she says that she returns the favor.

Another reason that is probably more heavy than my intent to remain faithful is that I try to keep it real. If a woman I have not enamored is willing to put out with me, she probably has put out for many more. Maybe my charming ways captivated her (right:) and so she’s willing to give me what she wouldn’t give to others, but I’m willing to be wrong in thinking that she’s easy, if in doing so I would keep myself from having sex with her, and thereby diminish the chance of me acquiring a sexually transmitted disease.

In conclusion, yes, us men are pigs. 🙂 But what do I know? Not even birds respect me. One dropped its load on my bare arm as I stood next to a tree for mere seconds! Of all the pig-men at the park, the bird chose me. Great.
