Friday, October 17, 2003Like every Friday, for the past three weeks, I head to the nurse’s office after working-hours to make use of the scale. Like every Friday, I expected to weigh three pounds less than the last. I was 168 last Friday, it only made sense that I’d be 165 today. I positioned the weights (metallic objects) on the scale so that it’d have the big weight on the 150 mark, and the smaller one on the 15. I know my math, 150+15=165. So, why wasn’t the scale balanced yet?! I moved the smaller weight a bit to the right, to the 165.5 mark. Nope, still not balanced. 166? Nope. Ahh! Yeah, I weigh someplace between 165 and 168. Pretexts are my friends. I’m hoping mine is right on the money: I had drank 2+ liters of water in the preceding eight hours. Two liters of water weight about four and a half pounds. Or is it the half-a-muffin and milk I’ve been enjoying in some mornings of this week? Dunno. I hope next week I hit 163, at most. Posted by Dusky at 8:17 pm [Permalink]
