Wednesday, October 29, 2003Remember Shoshana? She’s a girl I kicked it with about two years ago. Our age disparity (she was older by 8 years) and our religious differences (she’s Jewish), among other things, stood in the way. We became friends. Today I saw her holding some flowers and a teddy bear. I brought my hands to my mouth and asked, “Oh, Lord, it’s your birthday?!” No, that wasn’t quite it. She said a friend had given them to her. But then I pointed to the “I love you” message inscribed on the heart that the teddy bear was holding. She said, “Okay, a special friend.” I went, “Hmm.” She turned her hand, so that her palm would be facing down, and added, “He also gave me this.” The guy had proposed to her at work, in front of her students! The shock got to me. It sort of turned me into acting like a female friend… “Tell me everything, girlfriend!” Of course, I restrained myself. 🙂 When I saw the ring, I felt genuinely happy for her. Suddenly, I was the one proposed to! That’s the way it seemed. I mean, I had a bigger smile than she did. So I had to ask, “You’re happy about this, right?” And when she said, “Yes”, I was back to celebrating. Hmm, the last time we went out, we had agreed that I’d be taking her out in a future occasion. Guess I’m officially off the hook… 😀 Posted by at 4:07 pm [Permalink]
