Wednesday, December 1, 2004Just as I always thought! I just read in my intro to linguistic textbook that a promise requires the usage of the word promise. If you tell someone, “I’ll take you to Disneyland tomorrow” and for some reason you’re not able to fulfill that intention, it cannot be said that you broke a promise. Yeah, you’ll be hated anyway, but, but, but… 🙂 Do note also that if your spouse asks, “Do you promise to wake me up every morning with a kiss, for the remainder of our lives?” and you say yes, you better start buying Tic Tacs by the pound and stick a couple dozens into your spouse’s mouth while he/she sleeps, ’cause otherwise you might have a bad taste to look forward to every morning of your stinking life… or hers/his stinking life, I should say. 🙂 Well, you could also break the promise, but then you’ll never get him/her to stop yapping about it. Decisions, decisions, decisions, huh? 🙂 Posted by at 6:34 pm [Permalink]
