Monday, July 4, 2005As my family and I were driving home, firework could be seen left and right, ahead and behind us. It seemed as if all of Los Angeles was celebrating with us. A little more than 16 years ago, as recently arrived immigrants, my parents, two siblings and I rented one corner of my aunt’s living room. Tonight, on America’s 229th birthday, we made our way into a house that now bears my family’s name. And who knows, if we’re still alive thirty years from now we just might celebrate making the very last payment. Posted by Dusky at 10:47 pm [Permalink]
