Tuesday, November 29, 2005I turned on the television as I surfed the net. Something on the TV caught my eye about an hour later. A newsshow originating from Mexico featured a diputado by the name of Miguel Angel Toscano saying that a certain measure did not pass because of a conflict of interests on the part of some of his fellow diputados. Corruption is nothing new, so there was no disappointment there. What was disappointing to me were the responses given by the so called sobornados. They all had poor oration skills. 🙁 They seemed nervous as fuck! Speech-giving is perhaps my biggest weakness, but I don’t make a living out of it. I expected more from these people. A greater disappointment was hearing the comments made by three female politicians. They all made reference to Toscano being a poco hombre because he was making false statements. What is wrong with these women?! To say that a man is a poor excuse of a man because he lies or gossips implies that lying and gossiping is a woman thing! Are most women liars and gossipers? Even if that was the case, a woman should not refer to a man who lies/gossips as a “poco hombre,” because in doing so she’s insulting all women in general. This brings me to a pet-peeve. I dislike hearing/reading the following phrase: “parece vieja.” That is the title ERRONEOUSLY given to a man who lies, gossips, and/or argues, and it means: “he’s almost like a woman.” Remove that phrase from your lexicon. If a man lies, gossips, and/or argues too much, say that he lies, gossips, and/or argues too much! That’s it! Sorry if that didn’t make sense. It’s past my bedtime… and I’m sick.
