Friday, June 16, 2006When a conversation involves a woman and the man she baffles with her beauty, the conversation, however insignificant, is replayed in the man’s head for days and days. Every word such a girl utters — or is uttered to her — is overanalyzed. “I wonder what she meant when she said so and so? Did my messages get across to her, or did she get the wrong impression of me?” Truth be told, some women need not even say a word, nor be told one, in order to invoke in the men who adore them a loving thought. Case in point… A few days ago, as my working day came to its end, my eyes spotted a special someone standing 50 feet away from me. My eyes only caught a glimpse of her (if that), but I held on to it for as long as I could. As I veered away from her, a thought escaped my lips: “It’s a beautiful day all of a sudden.” It most certainly was. Every now and then I see the school principal tending to her flowers in the first hours of the school day. I would like to think that she’s a strong believer that beautiful schools inspire learning. But hey, it just may be the case that she simply has too much time in her hands. Whatever the case may be, every time I see the principal tending to her flowers I’m reminded of an irrefutable fact: regardless of her efforts and best wishes, their beauty will never rival that of the gorgeous woman who inspired this entry — La Sirenita… the beautiful little mermaid.
